MLB Chief Baseball Officer JOE TORRE will be replaced by former MLBer CHRIS YOUNG as the "person who decides suspensions and fines for on-field matters." Young will have the title of Senior VP while Torre is "shifting to a role as special assistant to the commissioner." Torre was hired as MLB Exec VP/Baseball Operations in February '11 and became Chief Baseball Officer "during a reorganization" in December '14. He is "expected to travel less during the season" in his new position. Young joined MLB in May '18 as VP/On-Field Operations, Initiatives & Strategy. Meanwhile, MLB promoted Senior VP/League Economics & Strategy MORGAN SWORD to Exec VP/Baseball Economics & Operations. The league also named former MLBers GREGOR BLANCO and NICK HUNDLEY Senior Dirs of Baseball Operations (AP, 2/6).

EXECS: NASCAR promoted the following: Managing Dir of Racing Operations & Int'l Development BEN KENNEDY, son of NASCAR Exec Vice Chair LESA FRANCE KENNEDY, to VP/Racing Development; Managing Dir of Driver & Team Marketing PATRICK ROGERS to VP/Marketing Services; and Managing Dir of Digital Media JOHN MARTIN to VP/Media & Event Technology. NASCAR also named Motor Racing Network President CHRIS SCHWARTZ VP/Media Properties (Adam Stern, THE DAILY)....ESPN Senior VP/College Networks ROSALYN DURANT is leaving the company to become Walt Disney World Resort Senior VP/Operations for Disney Springs, ESPN Wide World of Sports. At ESPN, Durant oversaw ACC Network’s successful launch in August. She began her ESPN career in '98 as an intern in affiliate sales and marketing (John Ourand, THE DAILY).
