FC Cincinnati to Launch New Mobile Ticketing App Built by Venuetize

MLS club FC Cincinnati will launch a mobile ticketing app for Nippert Stadium this season. The app was built with the help of developer Venuetize, and will be upgraded when FC Cincinnati moves to its new West End Stadium in 2021.

The initial app will allow fans to buy and transfer their mobile tickets through an integration with SeatGeek. It will also feature team information as well as league-wide schedules, scores, and video streams from MLS Matchcenter. It is expected to launch for iOS and Android devices in mid-February, before the MLS regular season kicks off on Feb. 29.

“We’re excited to be able to release an app customized to our final season in Nippert Stadium, then expand the app’s capabilities for our move to West End Stadium in 2021 to really create a fan-focused experience that is unique to every fan who uses the app,”  said FC Cincinnati chief operating officer Dennis Carroll in a press release.

STATE OF THE INDUSTRY: Don’t Miss the World’s Premier Sports Tech Event (March 26–27 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn)

The app’s future upgrade will add mobile commerce, mobile ordering, augmented reality and virtual reality features that will be customized for FC Cincinnati’s new privately-financed $250 million stadium. That venue will open in time for the expansion club’s third MLS season.

Venuetize has previously created mobile apps for fellow MLS clubs LAFC and New York Red Bulls, as well as the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies, the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, and the PGA Tour. Last month, Venuetize launched a mobile ticket and wallet app for TD Garden, where the Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins play.
