Super Bowl LIV: Names In The News

Patriots coach BILL BELICHICK "drew one of the biggest pregame reactions" yesterday ahead of Super Bowl LIV when he was introduced" during the ceremony honoring the NFL 100 team, though it "wasn't the kindest of recognitions." Belichick "quickly flashed a few of his championship rings to the crowd, which seemed to appreciate that as jeers turned to cheers." Patriots Owner ROBERT KRAFT also attended the game (BOSTON GLOBE, 2/3).

SB SIGHTINGS: Celebrities spotted at the game included JAY-Z, BEYONCE, CARDI B, AXL ROSE, DAVID BECKHAM, KEVIN HART, RICK ROSS, MARC ANTHONY, PAT RILEY, FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR. and PAUL MCCARTNEY (MIAMI HERALD, 2/3)....RUPERT MURDOCH and his son, Fox CEO LACHLAN MURDOCH, were both at the game, along with Fox Sports CEO & Exec Producer ERIC SHANKS and Fox Entertainment CEO CHARLIE COLLIER (RELIABLE SOURCES, 2/3).

SB AWARDS & HONORS: Jaguars DT CALAIS CAMPBELL "captured the NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year honor Saturday night." Campbell is the first Jaguar to earn the award, as he has been "active in the Jacksonville community, through his CRC Foundation named after his late father," since the team signed him as a free agent prior to the '17 season (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 2/2)....The NFL remembered longtime football reporter DON BANKS, who died in August at age 56, by "reserving a press box seat in his honor" (SI.com, 2/2).

SB NAMES: Miami-Dade Mayor CARLOS GIMENEZ "accepted a gift of two $4,000 Super Bowl tickets" from Dolphins Owner STEPHEN ROSS. The gift comes at a time when Gimenez is helping Ross "bring Formula One racing to Hard Rock Stadium." Gimenez was "free to accept the tickets, since they weren't offered in exchange for favorable treatment from the mayor" (MIAMI HERALD, 2/1)....Jay-Z and Beyonce remained seated during DEMI LOVATO's performance of the national anthem, a move that will "surely frustrate" NFL Commissioner ROGER GOODELL and the league (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 2/3)....Goodell was spotted sitting next to former NFLer KENDRICK NORTON in his suite during the game (THE DAILY).
