ShotTracker Partners With Sports Marketing Firm Learfield IMG College

ShotTracker has partnered with sports marketing firm Learfield IMG College to expand the company’s basketball analytics system into college basketball programs across the U.S. There are currently 63 men’s and women’s college basketball programs utilizing ShotTracker, including more than 30 Division I programs.

ShotTracker embeds sensors into basketballs and player jerseys to track more than 70 real-time metrics involving player movement and shot selection. Learfield IMG College handles branding opportunities for hundreds of college athletic programs. The marketing firm will work to bring ShotTracker to its clients and develop sponsorship opportunities in areas where fans can engage with ShotTracker statistics, including in-venue scoreboard integration, digital/social platforms and experiential activations.

Learfield IMG College will also look to integrate ShotTracker into school’s whose athletic websites and mobile apps are powered by Sidearm Sports. Sidearm Sports was acquired by Leafied in 2014 and its software powers digital solutions for more than 700 collegiate programs.

“There is tremendous value in merging all of these components together through ShotTracker’s technology; hitting multiple touchpoints where fans desire extensive content and data while watching their favorite team play,” Jeff Rubin, President and CEO of SIDEARM Sports, said in a press release.

As part of the partnership between ShotTracker and Leafrield IMG College, the companies have agreed to pursue future partnerships in sports beyond college basketball. ShotTracker’s most visible partnership is with the Mountain West Conference, which announced a five-year deal last May. The NCAA has issued a waiver to allow Mountain West teams to use ShotTracker on the bench during regular season games this season.
