49ers Focused On Unique Twitter Content During Super Bowl Week

49ers Dir of Digital & Social Marketing Meghan Ryan said that the team is "striving to provide unique content and leverage access to the players via Twitter during Super Bowl week and the day of the big game," according to Dawn Kawamoto of the S.F. BUSINESS TIMES. She said that on Super Bowl Sunday, the "speed of capturing plays and tweeting them out with rich content is key to the 49ers’ strategy." Ryan said two team staffers "will be running live game tweets," while 49ers photographers "will be taking field-level photos, transmitting them over Wi-Fi to our design team to edit and create great assets to put on Twitter in near real time." Kawamoto noted the 49ers also have "designed new celebratory GIFs that feature the players in their special white uniforms." After a player makes a key play, an "entertaining gif of that player will appear on Twitter, as well as video of that particular play." The 49ers' Twitter page, launched in '09, now boasts nearly 2.2 million followers. Twitter Sports Partner Manager David Herman said that the 49ers "use a wide diversity of content by utilizing all of Twitter’s tools, such as live content, video-on-demand, a strong voice and conversational behavior, which in turn creates a more unique, interesting profile." Herman: "The 49ers Twitter account is about as authentic as it gets. They're not overly corporate and they truly have a voice -- one that connects with its followers in a natural, unforced way" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 1/28).
