PGA Tour Highlights Now Available on Facebook Watch

The PGA Tour has announced a new global agreement with Facebook to expand its distribution of highlights on Facebook Watch. The new deal goes into effect starting with this week’s Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego.

Content published on the PGA Tour’s Facebook page will include videos of round recaps and player-specific highlights from more than 30 tournaments. The highlights will originate from broadcast telecasts of the PGA Tour as well as the PGA Tour Live streaming service operated by NBC Sports.

STATE OF THE INDUSTRY: Don’t Miss the World’s Premier Sports Tech Event (March 26–27 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn)

The content will be posted daily at the end of each round. As part of the new agreement, the PGA Tour will engage with fans who are members of its Facebook Group known as “The Gallery” through Facebook Live streams and Facebook Watch parties. Facebook livestreamed eight PGA tour events for free in 2018. The experience allowed viewers to share comments with each other and ask questions to be answered during the event’s broadcast.

“We’re thrilled to add PGA TOUR recaps to our growing portfolio of sports highlights on Facebook Watch,” Sidhant Rao, Facebook’s sports league partnerships lead, said in a press release. “Through this content, as well as products such as Facebook Groups and Watch Party, the TOUR will be able to engage its fans in exciting new ways this year.”
