Jerome Bettis Out Front In New Hertz "Extra Mile" Campaign

Jerome Bettis has been a member of Hertz' loyalty program for more than 20 yearsHertz

Hertz today is rolling out its new "Extra Mile" campaign and sweepstakes featuring Pro Football HOFer Jerome Bettis. The initial centerpiece of the effort will see the car rental company reward customers with experiences around Super Bowl LIV in Miami. One Hertz Gold Plus Rewards member will win the grand prize of a helicopter tour of the host city and chauffeured car service to the stadium. Also, 100 customers -- 50 winners plus guests -- will ride to and from the game in a Hertz-branded bus (a reference to Bettis' nickname, "The Bus"). Finally, Hertz is offering $300 certificates to winners who engage with the brand on Instagram, with one winner a day selected starting today and ending Feb. 1, the day before the game. After the Super Bowl, the "Extra Mile" campaign will roll out TV, digital and social ads, with creative focusing on customer loyalty. Hertz did not obtain Super Bowl marketing rights, and its prize packages will not include tickets; creative will feature references to the "Big Game."

LOYAL TO THE CORE: Bettis said he has been a Hertz Gold member for more than 20 years, part of what makes his partnership with the brand a "natural combination." He added he was attracted to the "family atmosphere" that Hertz creates. For instance, Bettis noted he often rents a car when he travels home to Detroit to see his mother, and when he visits the Hertz location at the airport, "everybody wants to know about my mom." Bettis said another reason he has aligned with Hertz is, "We're both No. 1." Bettis this morning promoted his partnership with Hertz by making appearances on both ESPN Radio's "Golic & Wingo" and FS1's "First Things First."
