Baseball Grounds Of Jacksonville To Be Renamed 121 Financial Ballpark

The Double-A Southern League Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp and 121 Financial Credit Union "agreed to a long-term naming rights agreement" for the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, "pending Jacksonville City Council approval," according to Junior Skepple of the JACKSONVILLE BUSINESS JOURNAL. The agreement calls for the ballpark to be "named 121 Financial Ballpark for a 13-year term," expiring in '33. The city is "expected to sign off on the deal" prior to the '20 season. 121 Financial interim CEO David Marovich said that the team's "improved fan experiences and focus on family and affordable activities goes hand-in-hand with the vision of 121 Financial Credit Union's brand." 121 Financial, a longtime marketing partner of the team and a brand with "roots in Jacksonville dating back 85 years," now will become the official credit union of the Jumbo Shrimp, with "additional sponsorship and marketing elements" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 1/22).
