Tennessee Football's Beer & Wine Sales Generate $1.46M In Revenue

The Univ. of Tennessee generated $1.46M in revenue from "beer and wine sales" at seven home football games this season, according to Blake Toppmeyer of the Knoxville NEWS SENTINEL. That revenue is "split 50/50 between UT's athletic department and Aramark," the school's concessionaire, meaning that UT's "take of the revenue was just more than $730,000." The school began Neyland Stadium beer sales in "general seating areas at its second home game" against BYU on Sept. 7. For the seven home games in which beer and wine was sold, UT had a "total of 24 arrests and 85 ejections," which marks a decrease from '18, when the school "recorded 29 arrests and 106 ejections for seven home games." The revenue from alcohol sales, after the split with Aramark, "represents about 0.5% of the athletic department's total revenue projection" for FY '19. The school's "top sellers this season were, in no particular order," Bud Light, Miller Lite, Coors Light and Michelob Ultra (Knoxville NEWS SENTINEL, 1/20).
