Live and On-Demand Sports Available in NBC Universal’s New Streaming Service

NBC Universal has launched Peacock, an ad-supported streaming service that offers more than 600 movies and 400 TV series. The service also includes both live and on-demand sports content.

The free version of Peacock will offer more than 7,500 hours of programming, including live coverage of the Tokyo 2020 Opening and Closing Ceremonies as well as three daily shows covering Olympic Game highlights, analysis and news. The service will also stream more than 1,000 hours of exclusive coverage from the Tokyo Paralympics.

“By delivering timely and topical content like breaking news, live sports, and watercooler moments from late night, Peacock is uniquely bringing a pulse to the world of streaming that does not exist in today’s marketplace,”  Matt Strauss, chairman of peacock and NBCUniversal digital enterprises, said in a press release.

Peacock’s premium option will offer more than 15,000 hours of content, including more than 140 English Premier League matches during the 2020-21 season starting in August. Video highlights from the season will also be shared. Coverage of the 2020 Ryder Cup golf tournament will stream on Peacock in September. The premium service costs $4.99 per month or $9.99 per month for an ad-free experience.
