Adidas Releases Esports Star Ninja's First Signature Shoe

Adult sizes, which cost $150, sold out in less than 40 minutes, though youth sizes are still available for $120adidas

Adidas and esports personality Tyler "Ninja" Blevins earlier this week released their first shoe collaboration -- the Ninja Nite Jogger, which comes with his brand's "signature blue and yellow colors," according to CNBC's Josh Lipton. Blevins said that the adult sizes of the shoe, which costs $150, "sold out in less than 40 minutes." Youth sizes are still available at $120 per pair. Adidas and Ninja agreed to an endorsement deal in August. Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter said that companies "naturally want to try and capitalize on the video game industry." However, he is "skeptical of Ninja's new shoe." Pachter indicated that consumers "might not necessarily associate professional gamers with their footwork." CNBC's Morgan Brennan said, "I still don't understand why a gamer is designing a jogger. But it is a nice looking sneaker" ("Squawk Alley," CNBC, 12/31).
