Chargers coach Anthony Lynn is returning to the team next season, but that "doesn't mean his entire coaching staff will stay intact following a disappointing 5-11 season and a last-place finish in the AFC West," according to Gilbert Manzano of the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER. It was an "ugly season for the Chargers, but the organization took notice of what Lynn has done during his three-year tenure." He "guided the team to a respectable 9-7 finish" in '17, and that was with the "obstacles that come from relocating" (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 12/31). In San Diego, Tom Krasovic writes it is "still a yellow flag that Lynn's program went off the rails, and more so because it happened in his third year." A coach's third year, "per the wisdom of longtime head coach Andy Reid, points to the horizon" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 12/31).
BOLD PREDICTIONS: In L.A., Arash Markazi has some "educated guesses" about what might happen with the Chargers in '20. First, Tom Brady "will be the starting quarterback." Also, the team will "average over 60,000 in attendance for home games at SoFi Stadium" (L.A. TIMES, 12/31).
