Pixellot Acquires Video Editing and Analysis Platform VidSwap

Automated sports video production company Pixellot has acquired editing and analysis platform VidSwap. The deal was announced in a press release on Monday.

Pixellot’s automated cameras film 80,000 hours of live sports per month, and the company has an expansive deal with the National Federation of State High School Associations. VidSwap is also active in U.S. high school sports, and will now integrate its automated editing platform into the Pixellot system, creating an end-to-end sports video solution that aims to help coaches monitor team performance.

“The combination of being able to utilize video streaming for viewing, coaching, and analysis, all in one platform, is going to be a game changer for the industry,” Pixellot North American president Dave Shapiro said in a press release. “Through the NFHS Network’s partnership with Pixellot, we intend to give thousands of high schools the opportunity to use their video for player development, helping athletes and teams achieve their goals.”

Shapiro recently told Joe Lemire that “Most of youth sports is being captured on cell phones, and our product is going to be a lot better than that. You're going to be able to clip highlights a lot easier and really have production that looks like ESPN-type production for Johnny’s 10-year-old games.”

Earlier this month, Pixellot also partnered with Brazilian TV network Grupo Globo to automate its soccer coverage. The company’s video tools are additionally used by coaches with top soccer clubs in LigaMX, the English Premier League, La Liga and the Bundesliga.
