Indiana AD Fred Glass Will Retire At End Of School Year

Glass during his tenure has led significant facility projects for nearly every program at IndianaGETTY IMAGES

Indiana AD Fred Glass this morning announced he will "retire at the end of the academic year" after having been on the job since Jan. 1, 2009, according to Zach Osterman of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR. Since being selected to replace Rick Greenspan, Glass has "spearheaded capital improvements that have significantly renovated or outright replaced facilities for nearly every one" of the school's 24 sports. IU in total spent well over $250M on "everything from remaking Assembly Hall, to enclosing both ends of Memorial Stadium, to punting outdated baseball, softball, volleyball and wrestling facilities for state-of-the-art replacements." Results have "mirrored investment in many cases." Men’s soccer has been "restored to national prominence under Glass’ stewardship," while IU baseball has "put together the most successful decade for a Big Ten program in generations." Football also just "completed its best season in a quarter century." However, Glass has "not been able to reinvigorate men’s basketball in the way he would have liked," which means "getting basketball back to its former standing will be the clear and present priority for his successor" (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 12/16).
