A Day In The Life With NFL Senior VP Tracy Perlman

NFL Senior VP/Football Communications & Marketing TRACY PERLMAN oversees multiple programs with the league including the NFL Legends Community, which connects all former players with each other, their former teams and the league. The Legends Community recently celebrated a milestone as they hit 10,000 former players last week. Perlman has been working for the NFL since the day she graduated from Hofstra in '92. She recently caught up with THE DAILY to walk us through what an average day looks like for her.

5:15am: I wake up automatically with no alarm clock, it's kind of scary. Every morning I drink a smoothie for breakfast. I get ready as quietly as I can because my partner JEFF is sleeping and I'm pretty noisy when I'm blending a smoothie in the morning. I sit down, turn the news on and try to see what emails I can answer before I start getting ready for the day and head out for work.

7:20am: I walk to work every day, I live about 1.2 miles from the office, so rain or shine I walk. I grab a decaf cappuccino because I definitely do not need any caffeine. I try to get to the office early so I can start to do a lot of work. I tend to get a lot of meetings and phone calls throughout the day. Then I kind of just get to it. Everybody starts coming in and the emails keep flowing.

10:00am: Every other Thursday we have an executive directors call for the Legends Youth Advisory Committee. The committee aims to not only assist and guide efforts to preserve and grow youth and high school football through peer-to-peer engagement, but to also develop transferable skills that student-athletes can use on and off the field. These meetings can last up to two-and-a-half hours. We talk through what we want to accomplish that week, where we are on the goals we have, our next steps, etc.

NFL

12:00-1:00pm: I'm very back-to-back with meetings everyday which is not great for lunch. But I try to grab lunch at noon down at our cafeteria. I get laughed at because I'm allergic to so many foods, so I pretty much only eat vegetables.

1:00-5:00pm: After lunch, I'm generally in meetings most of the day. I am the email queen. I respond to every email and get about 1,000 a day. For the NFL 100 All-Time Team, I am calling coaches and players pretty much all day.

5:30pm: I try to leave the office by 5:00 to get to my yoga class. I take a class after work every day. It's 90 minutes, 105 degrees in the room at a minimum. It's lovely.

7:00-8:00pm: I run home after class, make myself a Greek salad, FaceTime my 8-year-old niece and then watch football if it's on. Since I work with so many players, I cheer for players, not teams, so Jeff gives me a hard time.

11:00pm: After the games I'm exhausted and pass out!
