Ole Miss Commits To Keith Carter After National AD Search

Carter while overseeing the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation saw monetary commitments nearly tripleKEITH CARTER

Ole Miss officially promoted interim AD Keith Carter to the role full time, and alum Mike Glenn, who chaired the AD search committee, "expressed confidence in Carter all-around and in working with coaches specifically," according to Parrish Alford of the Northeast Mississippi DAILY JOURNAL. Carter, who was introduced Friday, has "cut his teeth in fund-raising" since '09 at Ole Miss. Glenn said that Collegiate Sports Associates President Todd Turner, whose firm helped with the search, told him, "It’s a good thing you hired (Carter) because I would have had him placed within six months." Carter’s promotion gives Ole Miss employees a chancellor, football coach and AD "all with strong ties to the school" (Northeast Mississippi DAILY JOURNAL, 11/23). In Mississippi, Nick Suss noted Carter had filled the AD role in an interim capacity since May, when Ross Bjork left to take the same job at Texas A&M. Previously, as Ole Miss Athletics Foundation Exec Dir, Carter saw "monetary commitments and donation nearly triple" from $62 to $182M. In his tenure as interim AD, Carter "approved alcohol sales at on-campus sporting events." Glenn said that the committee "selected from a pool of 30 candidates, most of whom were sitting Power 5 or Group of 5 athletics directors" (Jackson CLARION LEDGER, 11/23).
