Reid Ryan Currently Intending To Stay With Astros Through '20 Season

Astros Exec Advisor/Business Relations Reid Ryan, who recently lost his title of President of Business Operations to team Owner Jim Crane's son, Jared, said that his "plan 'right now' is to remain" with the organization through the '20 season, though he "acknowledged 'talking to some people' at the owners meetings" this week in Arlington, according to Chandler Rome of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. Asked if he had spoken to other clubs about specific job opportunities this week, Ryan said that he "had not." Ryan: "I still feel like I've got some good years ahead of me. It would have to be the right place, but I definitely will stay in baseball." Rome notes if Ryan "harbors any ill will toward the team or Jim Crane, he did not display it publicly." Whether "noticeable or not, Ryan's fingerprints are firmly on the Astros' renaissance." Ryan "oversaw renovations of Minute Maid Park" and "overhauled in-game entertainment" at the ballpark. Meanwhile, Ryan declined to speak on behalf of his father, Nolan Ryan, who earlier this month said that he would "relinquish his Astros role" as an Exec Advisor in the wake of his son's reassignment (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 11/21).
