Southern Nevada Water Authority Could Ink Raiders Sponsor Deal

The Southern Nevada Water Authority will "seek approval for a marketing and advertising partnership with the Raiders during its Thursday board meeting," according to Bailey Schulz of the LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL. The potential 10-year deal would cost $30M in "tax dollars." SNWA spokesperson Scott Huntley said that the deal would be "similar to its partnerships with other local sports teams" like the Golden Knights, UNLV and Triple-A PCL Las Vegas Aviators. The agreement would have the Raiders "contribute $600,000 annually to convert two local high school grass football fields to synthetic turf and agree to invite members of the SNWA Youth Advisory Council for a tour of Allegiant Stadium each year." The total cost of the deal "eclipses the authority's other sports partnerships, which take up about $500,000" of the $4.9M annually budgeted for its "conservation ad campaign." The Raiders deal would cost $2.5M in its "inaugural year alone," with a 4% annual increase (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 11/16). Huntley said that the proposed deal has the "same money value as the Raiders' other stadium founding partners," which include Allegiant Air, America First Credit Union, Caesar Entertainment, Cox, Credit One Bank, Desert Ford Dealers, Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling, San Manuel Casino and Twitch. In Las Vegas, Alan Snel noted each of these deals "pays the same amount annually for the 10 years" -- $2.5M a year in year one but up to $3.558M in year 10 with the 4% annual increase (LVSPORTSBIZ.com, 11/16).
