Populous To Move N.Y. Office From Fifth Ave. To West Chelsea

Populous will move its N.Y. offices from Fifth Ave. to Manhattan's West Chelsea neighborhood in April. The architectural firm, which has completed its design of the Starrett-Lehigh Building's 17th floor, signed a lease for a 4,800-square-foot office with building owner RXR Realty. The new office space will have space for up to 30 employees. Populous Senior Principal and N.Y office head Jonathan Mallie cited expansion as reason for the firm's move to West Chelsea. "We've been in midtown for four years. We're growing and we were looking to move to the westside, to be a part of the creative energy there," he said. Commercial real estate services firm CBRE brokered the deal with RXR Realty on behalf of Populous. Financial terms of the lease were not disclosed.
