Yahoo Sports launched its new online sports betting platform in New Jersey on Thursday. The Garden State is the first to feature the BetMGM-powered Yahoo Sportsbook.
In late October, Yahoo Sports announced a multi-year partnership with MGM Resorts, which owns and operates the BetMGM mobile sports betting app. BetMGM’s sports betting platform will now be integrated into the Yahoo Sports mobile app and website. Through the Yahoo Sportsbook, New Jersey-based users ages 21 and over can now wager on the NBA, the NHL and college sports.
MGM will provide odds for Yahoo’s online sportsbook and handle all transactions. An important distinction is that the sportsbook will not be available via Yahoo’s fantasy app, which operates separately to the Yahoo Sports app.
According to a press release, Yahoo Sportsbook will soon become available in other states where online sports betting is legal. The partnership between MGM and Yahoo will also see collaboration on future events, content production and marketing campaigns. BetMGM also recently partnered with Buffalo Wild Wings to provide its online sports wagering at New Jersey-based restaurant locations.
