Nike Ends Direct Sales of Its Shoes and Clothing Through Amazon

Nike plans to stop selling its shoes and clothing on Amazon. The sports apparel retailer has been selling its products via the e-commerce giant since 2017 as part of a pilot program.

The test program in which Amazon bought merchandise directly from Nike had been intended to curb the abundance of fake Nike products sold by third-party vendors on the site.

“As part of Nike’s focus on elevating consumer experiences through more direct, personal relationships, we have made the decision to complete our current pilot with Amazon Retail,” Nike said in a statement to Bloomberg. “We will continue to invest in strong, distinctive partnerships for Nike with other retailers and platforms to seamlessly serve our consumers globally.”

According to Bloomberg, Nike will still use Amazon’s cloud computing program, Amazon Web Services, to power its mobile apps and Nike.com. Nike products will still be sold on Amazon, but only through third party resellers.
