Soccer Analytics Startup Track160 Announces $5 Million Series A Funding

Soccer analytics startup Track160 has announced a $5 million Series A fundraising round. The raise was led by the ADvantage Sports Tech Fund, which was founded by LeAD Sports.

Track160 has developed an AI-enabled camera that can be installed inside a sports venue to track player and ball movement throughout a match. Coaches can then study footage from Track160’s system to gather information about a player’s fitness and tactical performance. The company is based out of Israel.

“[Track160’s] ability to enable affordable skeletal tracking and tactical analysis on readily available commercial cameras is game-changing and has wide application across broadcast and training,” Jeremy Pressman, partner at ADvantage, said in a press release.

leAD Sports is a Berlin-based sports tech accelerator founded by the grandchildren of Adi Dassler, who founded Adidas. Track160 currently works with soccer teams in Europe, Asia and South America. The company’s new funding will be used to grow its development team and expand its product into new regions and markets.

Track160 was part of a recent study spearheaded by FIFA in which various player tracking devices were tested at Camp Nou, the home of FC Barcelona.
