Seven League Will Run NHL’s Social Media Accounts in Select European Markets

The NHL has hired London-based sports marketing firm Seven League to run its social media accounts in German, Finnish, Czech, and Swedish languages throughout the remainder of the 2019-20 season.

Seven League social media managers will script content tailored for fans in each individual European market by delivering posts in their time-zone and native language. Posts will be focused on highlighting the league’s European players and increasing the amount of video content across Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

More than 220 European players currently play in the NHL. This past September, Seven League launched the @NHLEurope account on Instagram and has amassed more than 17,000 followers.

Seven League will work with the NHL through the 2020 Stanley Cup Final in June. According to the company, its other clients include soccer clubs such as FC Barcelona, Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, Newcastle United, Everton, as well as organizations such as FIFA, UEFA, the NBA, the NFL, the FA and the Premier League.

“Through this partnership, we are already reaping the benefit through fan growth, and increased engagement and content consumption across our core European markets on social,” Jaka Lednik, NHL Group VP of International Strategy, said in a press release.

During last year’s playoffs, the NHL reaped success on its social channels though player-filmed videos.
