Facility Notes

In Nashville, Yihyun Jeong notes the Metro Fair Board will "terminate its contract with Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville racing operator Formosa Productions." This comes a "month after commissioners voted to give the group until Dec. 31 to pay its outstanding debt to the city." The contract was "initially set to expire" in March '23. But Tony and Claire Formosa "asked to renegotiate the contract terms, saying ongoing fairgrounds improvements and a 'series of unfortunate events,'" including weather and uncertainty with the MLS stadium, "have meant a hit to the group's cash flow" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 11/13).

STAYING ON TRACK: The transformation of Suffolk Downs into a "commercial and residential complex earned master plan approval by the Boston Civic Design Commission last week," ending a "nearly three-year-long public comment period." The next step is "final approval by the Boston Planning & Development Agency." Developer HYM Investment Group Founding Partner & Managing Dir Thomas O'Brien said he hopes to see that happen in the "coming months." He added that construction "should start next year" (BOSTON HERALD, 11/12).

RAISE THE ROOF: Allegiant Stadium COO Don Webb said that the cable net roofing system on the Raiders' new Las Vegas facility is "expected to be fully in place by Thanksgiving." The roofing system has been "raised most of the way to provide the construction team enough clearance" to work on the areas where "seats eventually will be installed." Webb said that it was "not critical to meet the original target date of Nov. 10 for raising the roof because the work being done beneath it is the current focus" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 11/10).
