Franchise Notes

In Pittsburgh, Adam Bittner noted the Penguins on March 24 will host a "Pride Night" as part of the NHL's "Hockey is for Everyone" initiative. As part of the event, sticks with rainbow-colored tape will be "used in pre-game warmups" and "auctioned off to benefit 'You Can Play,' a group that 'works to ensure the safety and inclusion of all in sports.'" Pride-themed merchandise will also "be available for purchase" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 11/7).

WINTRY MIX: In Massachusetts, Chris Cotillo noted the Red Sox will "host their annual Winter Weekend fan event at MGM Springfield and the MassMutual Center" from Jan. 17-18. The two-day event will include a "Town Hall event, autograph sessions and photo opportunities with players, coaches and team alumni as well as panel discussions on a variety of topics." For the last five years, the Winter Weekend has been held at the Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Connecticut. The move to Springfield was "precipitated by the Red Sox' new multi-year partnership with MGM" as the team's official casino partner (Springfield REPUBLICAN, 11/7).

PREMIUM PACKAGES: In Austin, Chris Bils noted USL club Austin Bold has "begun the process of selling premium season ticket memberships, with the experience center at the team's office booked for the foreseeable future." Club officials "expect premium sales to continue for the next few months until moving on to fans who placed general and supporters section deposits" (AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, 11/6).
