Kansas AD Says Men's Basketball Sellout Streak Not In Jeopardy

Kansas has officially sold out all of the men's hoops team's non-conference games through DecemberGETTY IMAGES

Kansas AD Jeff Long said that the school's streak of 291 consecutive sellouts for men's basketball dating back to the '01-02 season "appears to be safe," according to Jesse Newell of the K.C. STAR. Long said, "The demand we see, that's not in jeopardy. Now, sold out and attending are two different things." He added that the overall ticket numbers for basketball "remain encouraging." Long said that the school was "officially 'sold out' for all its non-conference games through December, while at the same time holding back some single-game tickets for those who might be interested in full-season packages." The fact that KU "still has season tickets available also is different from some years past." The athletic department has "advertised this in many ways, whether on the video board at Allen Fieldhouse, in signage around the arena or in having Long discuss it during radio interviews." Long said that overall, he is "optimistic KU would reach its men's basketball ticket goal revenue projections." Newell notes the athletic department "reported bringing in" more than $15M in men's basketball ticket revenues for both the '16-17 and '17-18 seasons (K.C. STAR, 11/8).
