Roger Penske said he "looks forward" to meeting with NASCAR to "see how we can make the sport better and also take advantage of the tradition and history" of IMS on the heels of his purchase of the venue and IndyCar. Penske on Monday appeared on FS1's "NASCAR Race Hub" and said of working with NASCAR, "Collaboration is always better, especially when we're running at tracks like this or even other ones around the country ... (and) we have the ability to sit down openly and genuinely, and talk about what's best for both organizations. That's what we plan to do." FS1's Larry McReynolds noted a "doubleheader weekend" with IndyCar and NASCAR is "on the radar" now. McReynolds said the two coming together for one weekend "would help" both bodies. FS1's Regan Smith said of Penske, "To him the most important thing about this is making sure that we take motorsports and raise it back up. He believes in the sport and he believes in the fact that motorsports can be bigger now than what it was even 20 years ago. That is very important" ("NASCAR Race Hub," FS1, 11/4).
