Univ. Of Alabama To Host President Trump For Saturday's LSU Game

The Univ. of Alabama is "making preparations" for President Trump to "attend the LSU game at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday," according to Christopher Walsh of SI.com. The high-profile game was "already attracting a lot of attention, including ESPN's pregame show 'College Gameday.'" However, "Gameday's" stage had to be "moved due to security concerns, from the Walk of Champions just outside the stadium to near Denny Chimes on the Quad" (SI.com, 11/4). In Alabama, Cecil Hurt notes any presidential visit "complicates the logistics involving traffic and security," compounding -- if it occurs -- what was "already expected to be a record crowd" in Tuscaloosa. While "no logistical updates have been released," the Trump's visit to Atlanta for the '18 CFP title game "caused street closings and lengthy waits at many entrances to accommodate enhanced security measures" (TUSCALOOSA NEWS, 11/5). In Birmingham, Michael Casagrande notes security was "considerably stepped up" for Trump's appearance at the ;18 CFP title game. In fact, game organizers "weren't confirming his presence leading up to the game that required all attendees to clear a separate Secret Service checkpoint before entering Mercedes-Benz Stadium" (BIRMINGHAM NEWS, 11/5).
