Former Ohio State RB MAURICE CLARETT's new self-published autobiography, "ONE AND DONE: HOW MY LIFE STARTED WHEN MY FOOTBALL CAREER ENDED," is "being sold to raise money toward the establishment" of a residential center for student athletes at OSU. Clarett envisions the center as a place where college athletes can "go for help with social, emotional, psychological or academic needs or to get back on the right track when anxiety and pressure lead to poor habits or behaviors." The book was co-written by BOB ECKHART (COLUMBUS DISPATCH, 11/4).

JOE SIX-PACK: Former NFLer JOE THOMAS is profiled in the Wall Street Journal's "What's Your Workout" feature. After retiring in March '18, Thomas "radically overhauled his diet and exercise." He has "dropped more than 50 pounds" and plans to weigh 245 pounds by Thanksgiving. He "primarily swims freestyle." A "typical workout lasts 20 minutes and he tries to make it to the pool two to three times a week." He has also "become a dedicated yogi" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 11/4).

NAMES: Attorneys for Patriots Owner ROBERT KRAFT are arguing that "everyone loses" if video of Kraft at the Orchids of Asia Day Spa is allowed in the case against him. The lawyers wrote, "If the State wins this appeal, then everyone loses, not just the accused. Government could run roughshod over privacy and constitutional rights while evading scrutiny and check" (BOSTON HERALD, 11/4)....The Arizona Sports HOF inducted D-backs President & CEO DERRICK HALL and former NBAer TOM CHAMBERS on Friday (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 11/2)....Late longtime Dallas Morning News sports writer GERRY FRALEY was posthumously awarded the Excellence in Journalism Award, after passing away in May following a two-year battle with cancer (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 11/4).

IN MEMORY: Former BASS co-Owner JERRY MCKINNIS died early Sunday. McKinnis created ESPN's "THE FISHIN' HOLE," which aired for more than four decades. McKinnis, also a founder of JM Associates and a "legend in the fishing industry," was 82. In '10, McKinnis was joined by DON LOGAN and JIM COPELAND in purchasing BASS from ESPN, before selling "controlling interest in the organization to Anderson Media" in '17 (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 11/4).
