The NWSL Washington Spirit "reached an agreement in principle" with DC United to play four home matches at Audi Field next year and seven in '21, with both sides "aiming to finalize" plans by next week, according to sources cited by Steven Goff of the WASHINGTON POST. Under the agreement, the Spirit also would "receive office space and a permanent locker room" at Audi Field. In terms of attendance, the Spirit have "averaged 3,597 in 10 matches" this season at Maryland SoccerPlex, the NWSL team's home for seven seasons. By contrast, the team rode the "wave of enthusiasm" from the USWNT's World Cup win this summer and "drew an average of 18,645 for two visits" at Audi Field, which seats 20,000. What "remains unresolved" is whether the team would play its remaining eight home matches at SoccerPlex in '20 (WASHINGTON POST, 11/2).
