In N.Y., Marc Tracy notes many of Deadspin's "longtime staff members quit in protest" yesterday over the firing of interim Editor-in-Chief Barry Petchesky, "hurling Deadspin into chaos." At least eight of the site's journalists "announced their resignations on Twitter, casting doubt on the future of one of the most popular digital properties owned by G/O Media six months after a private equity firm bought the company for an undisclosed price" (N.Y. TIMES, 10/31). USA TODAY's Nate Scott wrote the series of resignations signal the "end of the popular blog as we know it" (USA TODAY, 10/30).

BEST AROUND: Portland's KXTG-AM "won the latest ratings book" in the local sports-radio market for the July-August-September period, "boasting both the top-rated national and local show." The station's "The Bald Faced Truth," the long-running show hosted by Portland Oregonian columnist John Canzano, was the "top-rated local sports show regardless of time slot in the Portland radio market in the three-month book" (Portland OREGONIAN, 10/29).

BLAZING HIS OWN TRAIL: Former NBAer Channing Frye joined NBC Sports Northwest for the '19-20 Trail Blazers season, and will make his debut tomorrow. Frye will co-host a weekly podcast, "Talkin' Blazers," with Dan Sheldon. New episodes will be available each Friday (NBC Sports Northwest).
