NFL Panthers Have Deal To Buy Golf Course Near New HQ Site

The NFL Panthers have a "deal to buy Waterford Golf Club," located just 4 miles away from the site of the franchise's planned $200M HQ and training facility in Rock Hill, S.C., that will "soon start development," according to Ken Elkins of the CHARLOTTE BUSINESS JOURNAL. Sources said that the course "would be used by the team but would also be open to public play." A price for the course "hasn't been disclosed" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 10/28). Panthers VP & COO Mark Hart said, "If we can do something in conjunction with the development on the Hutchison site and make it something that's got a Panthers brand or something that's even better for the community, I think that's something we're going to look forward to trying." Waterford itself is 205 acres and is valued at more than $4M (Rock Hill HERALD, 10/29).
