Under Armour Keeping Texas Tech In The Fold For Five More Years

UA and Texas Tech have partnered since '09, which Hocutt said "means a lot" to the schoolGETTY IMAGES

Texas Tech has a five-year extension in place with Under Armour that would keep the company as the school's official apparel provider for all of its sports teams. Texas Tech AD Kirby Hocutt made the announcement during his weekly Wednesday radio show on KTTU-FM, noting the contract "still has to be signed" and receive a "formal approval" from the school's Board of Regents. However, he said he did not "anticipate anything that would be a speed bump in front of us" that would prevent the deal from being approved. Hocutt noted Patrik Frisk was in Lubbock on Tuesday, the same day he was named as the company's new CEO following Kevin Plank's resignation. Hocutt called Frisk a "very talented leader" and noted he "liked the direction that he's going to lead with." UA has partnered with Texas Tech since '09, and Hocutt said that company's commitment to the school "means a lot." Hocutt: "That loyalty that they've been with us, that we've stayed with them means a lot to both of us. They're a valued partner and one I look forward to growing with over the next five years" ("The Kirby Hocutt Show," KTTU-FM, 10/23).
