Construction crews continue the "slow process of raising a net of multi-ton steel cables that will support a translucent roof" on the $2B, 65,000-seat Allegiant Stadium that will become the indoor home of the Raiders next year, according to Richard Velotta of the LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL. The raising of the cable net with a "coordinated system of hydraulic lifts is the first step in enclosing the building and is expected to take several weeks to complete." Allegiant Stadium COO Don Webb said that he "expects the cables to be attached along the top rim of the roof -- a process called 'pinning' -- by the middle of November." Next week, Webb said that construction crews will "begin around-the-clock shifts ... to install 800 pieces of precast concrete to complete the lowest levels of stands for seating." About 1,800 workers are now "employed at the site with the workforce expected to hit its peak of around 2,000 laborers by the end of the year" or in early '20. Workers also are "finishing the concrete surface just south of the wide stadium floor opening where they will build the field tray that will move the natural grass field in and out of the stadium." Webb also said that "two of the lanai doors -- able to cover the broad opening in the wall on the north end of the building -- have been installed" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 10/25).
POWER UP: In Las Vegas, Bailey Schulz noted Raiders subsidiary LV Stadium Events Co. has "entered into an agreement with NV Energy for a renewable energy-based supply service based on a new tariff structure." The Nevada Public Utilities Commission "would need to approve both the agreement and tariff before the deal moves forward." The 25-year deal "would provide bundled energy service with a reduced rate to Allegiant Stadium" -- set to open for the '20 football season -- and the Raiders' administrative facilities and practice facility in Henderson. Under the agreement, LV Stadium Events "would not be able to pursue any alternative providers for the Raiders' facilities" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 10/23).
