Average CFB Coach Pay Up 9% From '18; Dabo Swinney Leads Way

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney "leads the way" as the highest-earning college football coach this year, bringing in $9.32M in total compensation in '19-20, according to Berkowitz, Schad & Kelly of USA TODAY. He is one of 10 coaches to earn at least $6M. The average pay on the FBS level (compensation figures were obtained for 122 of the 130 coaches) is $2.67M, a 9% increase from last season and the "largest in four years." The SEC is the first conference to have all coaches "making at least $3 million;" the average pay is $4.95M (USA TODAY, 10/23).
