Nationals Fans Experience Issues Buying Home World Series Tickets

Nationals fans who "attempted to access" the Friday presale of home World Series tickets "encountered long waits in the virtual waiting room," according to Scott Allen of the WASHINGTON POST. Fans who purchased "at least one ticket to any of the Nationals' home games" in the NLCS through the team were "given the opportunity to purchase up to two single-game tickets for each World Series home game." However, some fans that got through "reported that tickets were only available for Game 4 and were gone within seconds." Season-ticket holders who renewed for the '20 season were "previously given the opportunity to purchase the number of tickets in their plan for the entire postseason" (WASHINGTON POST, 10/19).

STILL AN IMPORTANT VOICE: In DC, Barry Svrluga wrote the Nationals' World Series berth "means so many different things to so many different people," but for founding Owner Ted Lerner, it was "about family." Lerner over the years has "spoken rarely -- and in almost no detail -- about how his team functions." He has "left the explaining to others -- even in the early days." During his time as Nationals President from '06-10, Stan Kasten was the "most prominent forward-facing figure." But when he "departed, he wasn't replaced." Nationals Principal Owner Mark Lerner, Ted's son, "writes letters to the fan base following major decisions and occasionally speaks for the family in interviews." Ted Lerner last year "transferred official stewardship of the club to Mark," but the "patriarch's voice still matters" (WASHINGTON POST, 10/20). A WASHINGTON POST editorial went with the header, "Thank You, Nats. It Was Worth The Wait." The editorial stated it has "been great since the Nationals arrived in town," and it is "great now that the World Series is back." The editorial: "Yes, it was worth the wait" (WASHINGTON POST, 10/19).
