The USTA announced that Wilson Sporting Goods President MICHAEL DOWSE "will replace" outgoing CEO & Exec Dir GORDON SMITH. Dowse, who will begin his new role on Jan. 1, spent six years at Wilson, where he "helped expand the company's footprint in racquet sports and baseball," leading the acquisition of Louisville Slugger. He also had previous stints at Amer Sports and Nike. Smith "previously announced he would retire at the end of the year" from the position he first took in November '07 (TENNIS.com, 10/17).

EXECS: Harvard AD BOB SCALISE said that he will retire at the end of this academic year, after 19 years in his role (Harvard)....Tennessee State AD TERESA PHILLIPS announced that she is "stepping down" at the end of this school year. Phillips in '02 was promoted from an "interim role" to become the school's full-time AD. Her tenure "probably will end" in June '20 (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 10/18)....Architectural firm Populous named BRUCE MILLER Managing Dir of the Americas, replacing EARL SANTEE, who will remain on the firm's Holdings Board and an active member of the design practice (THE DAILY).
