Mountain Dew Creates Zion-Themed Mural On Hometown Courts

Mountain Dew recently commissioned murals on two refurbished courts at Spartanburg Day School, where Pelicans F and endorser Zion Williamson went to high school, as a way to meld Williamson’s “roots, his future, and his personality into one project,” according to Liz Roscher of YAHOO SPORTS. Williamson noted the project came together in part because Mountain Dew “likes to dive into the lifestyle within hoops.” He said, “They know that I like superheroes, comics, anime, cartoons, stuff like that. They know that my name was made in Spartanburg, that’s where the world was introduced to me.” The soft drink brand signed up New Orleans-based artist Ceaux Young to paint the murals, who Williamson said “brought it all together.” In addition to Mountain Dew, Williamson has deals with Nike/Jordan Brand, Gatorade and Panini, among others (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 10/18).
