Globe Life Park Could Become Six Flags HQ After Rangers' Move

Globe Life Park could house Six Flags' world HQ under a new deal that "could help bring new use to the facility" with the Rangers moving to Globe Life Field next season, according to a front-page piece by James Hartley of the Ft. Worth STAR-TELEGRAM. The Arlington City Council yesterday "unanimously approved" an offer to reimburse Six Flags up to $6M to "make extensive renovations to the existing office space behind center field." The theme park company in return would "sign a 15-year lease from the Rangers on the space owned by the city." Arlington Deputy City Manager Jim Parajon said the move "almost certainly" will happen. He added that the "need for renovations is legitimate, considering the office space is two decades old." Council member Helen Moise said that the deal is an "opportunity to ease public concern that the ballpark will not see enough use after the Rangers leave." Hartley notes Globe Life Park also will be home to the XFL Dallas Renegades, who begin play in February, and USL League One North Texas Soccer Club (Ft. Worth STAR-TELEGRAM, 10/16).
