Media Notes

In DC, Ryan Homler noted TNT yesterday learned there was a "price to play" for promising a Star Wars marathon and broadcasting MLB instead. Braves-Cardinals, which was "airing on TBS, went to extra innings" while Dodgers-Nationals "started up." With the latter game "poised to also air on TBS, TNT began showing that game until the other concluded." But with Star Wars "listed on the guide, some Sci-Fi fans were not happy with what appeared on the channel" (NBCSPORTSWASHINGTON.com, 10/7).

STILL DARK: In Ft. Lauderdale, Ron Hurtibise notes Fox and Dish Network have "resolved the contract dispute that kept NFL and college football games off Dish's systems for millions of subscribers across the country." But Dish subscribers in Broward and Miami-Dade counties who "normally watch" Miami's WSVN-Fox "must continue to find other ways to watch Fox programming because that channel remains blacked out on Dish's system amid a continuing impasse with station owner Sunbeam Television over rights fees" (South Florida SUN SENTINEL, 10/8).

GOOD DEEDS: DEADLINE's Dade Hayes noted CBS and Al Roker Entertainment are "teaming for a broadcast of the Musial Awards for sportsmanship." The awards will be "handed out by the National Sportsmanship Foundation" on Nov. 23 at the Stifel Theatre in St. Louis with that live show set to be "packaged into a one-hour special." CBS will then air it on Dec. 21 at 2:00pm ET and it will also have "multiple airings on CBS Sports Network" (DEADLINE.com, 10/7).
