Media Notes

The WALL STREET JOURNAL's Mattioli, Patel & Haggin note Amazon and Disney are at "loggerheads over terms for carrying the entertainment giant’s apps in Amazon’s Fire TV devices, a dispute that highlights the new power struggles emerging in the streaming economy." Sources said that Amazon is "pushing for the right to sell a substantial percentage of the ad space on Disney apps, and Disney has so far resisted." If both companies do not reach an agreement, Disney apps "could be removed from Fire TV, the second-largest distributor of streaming TV apps." Disney has several apps, including ESPN. Sources said that the dispute is one reason Fire TV has "no deal in place to carry Disney+," which launches Nov. 12 (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 10/4).

GETTING ANIMATED: DIGIDAY's Jessica Davies notes Bleacher Report Football this week "launched the third season of its spoof-reality TV show 'The Champions' to time with the second match of the UEFA Champions League season." The show’s previous two seasons have "driven 400,000 YouTube subscribers to date and become its most-watched show." Each 13-minute episode is a "parody that follows real narratives around the players and managers and their real-life match performances" (DIGIDAY.com, 10/4).

GIDDY UP: DEADLINE's Andreas Wiseman noted horse racing docuseries "All In: The Road to the Classic," produced by celebrity chef Bobby Flay’s Rock Shrimp Productions, is "returning for a sophomore season." The show "offers a behind-the-scenes look at the elite thoroughbred racing teams competing for a spot in the $6M Breeders’ Cup Classic." The six-part season will premiere on Oct. 9. The show will appear on NBCSN, TVG Network, TSN and Sky Sports Racing. Episodes will also "air on Breeders’ Cup digital channels on YouTube, Facebook and BreedersCup.com" (DEADLINE.com, 10/2).
