Media Notes

In L.A., Manouk Akopyan noted the Deontay Wilder-Luis Ortiz rematch will "take place Nov. 23 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas" and will be distributed on Fox PPV. It will provide a "momentary halt to Wilder's years-long run at Showtime, which opted not to break its coffers for the steep distribution fee that was required." Wilder had fought 12 times on the CBS-owned premium TV network, but he is  now "walking across the street to Fox, which has become a major player in the sport due to its partnership with PBC" (L.A. TIMES, 9/29).

AROUND THE HORN: In N.Y., Bradford William Davis notes a new podcast from Yankees P CC Sabathia and YES Network's Ryan Ruocco offers "NBA-style intimacy for the MLB fans eager to learn about their favorites." Sabathia, on "R2C2 Is Uninterrupted," brings in a "steady diet of current and former athletes who provide insight into their lives largely absent from the media." Ruocco and Sabathia "combine their relative youth with radio savvy and experiential knowledge of the game absent from many of their audio peers" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 10/1).

DUAL THREAT: The Univ. of Nebraska and the Husker Sports Network announced that Saturday's game against Northwestern will "feature a Spanish-language radio broadcast," the first non-English broadcast of a Nebraska game by the net. Enrique "Kike" Morales and Oscar "El Tico" Monterroso will call the game. Both also serve as the Spanish-language announcing crew for the Chiefs, in partnership with Tico Sports (OMAHA WORLD-HERALD, 10/1).
