Fox Sees Strong Start To "TNF" Schedule Despite Cable News Interest

Fox began its “TNF” package on Thursday night with Eagles-Packers, which combined with NFL Network’s audience, drew a 12.6 overnight rating. That figure is up 18% from the 10.7 combined rating that Vikings-Rams drew last year in Week 4 on Fox’ first-ever Thursday night game. Thursday’s strong rating comes as more viewers were expected to tune into cable news outlets given the news this week around President Trump. Cable news outlets also commanded higher-than-normal ratings on the same night last year in the wake of the hearings around the nomination of eventual Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Bears-Packers in ’17 drew a 9.9 combined rating on CBS and NFL Net.
