Islanders Moving Games To ESPN Radio N.Y. As Part Of Two-Year Deal

The Islanders have agreed to a two-year deal with ESPN Radio N.Y. that will allow fans to "hear Isles' games predominantly on" WEPN-AM station, but "also at times" on its FM station, according to sources cited by Andrew Marchand of the N.Y. POST. ESPN Radio N.Y. will do a "minimum of 60 games" throughout the season. ESPN Radio N.Y. is the "home of the Knicks and the Rangers, and those games will take precedence" on WEPN-FM over the Isles. For ESPN Radio N.Y., the Isles "represent some original programming as it continues to figure out how to utilize" WEPN-AM following the "decision to scrap the Spanish sports format" (N.Y. POST, 9/26). On Long Island, Neil Best cited sources as saying that the Isles' move to ESPN Radio N.Y. will provide a "stronger signal for fans in and near" the N.Y. area. Hofstra Univ.'s WRHU-FM, whose signal is "strongest in Nassau County, and WRCN-FM, whose signal is strongest in Suffolk, will continue to carry the team's games as well" (NEWSDAY, 9/26).
