Longtime NASCAR Senior VP & General Counsel KAREN LEETZOW will step down at the end of the year, in order to fully move to Chicago where her family is now based. Leetzow, who has been with NASCAR for more than 20 years dating back to ’99, has been commuting between Chicago and Daytona Beach for the last two years, as her husband, former ISC exec BRETT SCHARBACK, became General Counsel of the Cubs at the start of ’18. Leetzow, a '12 SBJ "Game Changer" honoree who has led the sanctioning body through several critical changes through the years, had been looking to move to Chicago fully for more than a year. NASCAR has hired Bellator MMA General Counsel and VP/Business & Legal Affairs TRACEY LESETAR-SMITH as Leetzow's replacement. Leeztow has agreed to stay on with NASCAR to help facilitate the merger with ISC, which is now near completion (Adam Stern, THE DAILY).
