NFL Marketing Notes: Gardner Minshew Mania Continues

Minshew now has more than 93,000 Twitter followers and more than 279,000 on InstagramGETTY IMAGES

In Jacksonville, Garry Smits cites opendorse data showing Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew has "added 260,000 followers on Twitter and Instagram just in the past seven days -- more than any other NFL player." Minshew now has more than 93,000 Twitter followers and more than 279,000 on Instagram. It is "probably no surprise that Minshew boosted his social media stock last week" after his "first victory as a starter in the NFL." He has been the "toast of the First Coast" since replacing the injured Nick Foles in Week 1 (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 9/24). NBCSN's Mike Florio said Minshew has        a “really cool mustache, he’s got a great name and Twitter loves him.” NBCSN’s Chris Simms sarcastically added, “That’s all that matters. We might as well just start saying this is the next Tom Brady” (“PFT,” NBCSN, 9/24).

A NEW ERA: In New Jersey, Anthony Zurita notes two New York men have "applied to trademark 'Danny Dimes'" -- the nickname of rookie Giants QB Daniel Jones -- in the "hopes of selling clothing and apparel donning the fan-given name." Christopher Lamparillo and Michael Jakab filed for the trademark on Sept. 17 -- the "same day Jones was announced" as the starter (Bergen RECORD, 9/24).

LAYERING SEASON: Browns WR Jarvis Landry has partnered with H&M to "pick out his favorite fall looks from the fast fashion retailer." Landry "celebrated his new campaign" on Saturday with fans at the Crocker Park H&M (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 9/24).
