Digital Sports Media Growth Experiences Rebound In August

The digital sports media category experienced a rebound in growth in August following a down month in July, according to monthly Comscore rankings of multiplatform digital reach. The sports category last month generated a total U.S. audience of 185.8 million, up 2.1% from 181.9 million in July and 178.3 million in August '18. Meanwhile, average consumption during August for sports content saw a similar uptick with 107.9 minutes per user -- topping both the 93.9 minutes in July and the 101.7 minutes in August '18. Last month's total represented the highest consumption figure of the summer for the category. ESPN once again led the sports category during August with a reach total of 85.6 million unique visitors, up from 70.2 million in '18.
