NFL, Players' Union Unlikely To Meet Over CBA Again This Month

CBA negotiations between the NFL and NFLPA are "on hold for right now," though that "doesn’t mean there’s been any sort of blowup between the sides," according to Albert Breer of THE MMQB. Since meeting on Sept. 3, the league and union have been "stuck on the big topics, the season was starting," and NFLPA Exec Dir DeMaurice Smith had "committed to doing his team visits, which will run through Oct. 10." It is "unlikely there’ll be another meeting before then." Breer: "The good news is that talks have remained amicable, and the parties have chipped away at smaller issues while the big ones remain unresolved." Sources said that the league "does want to make another run at a deal between now and Thanksgiving, because it hopes to open talks on new broadcast contracts before the first of the year" (SI.com. 9/16).
