Indiana Sports Corp President Ryan Vaughn said there is "still a lot of Olympic momentum here," despite yesterday's announcement that USA Diving would be moving its national HQ from Indianapolis to Colorado Springs, according to David Woods of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR. The NGB has been "located in Indianapolis" since '81. Vaughn "pointed to sports organizations that retain headquarters" in Indianapolis -- the NCAA, USA Track & Field, USA Gymnastics, USA Football -- and to a "robust calendar of upcoming events." The location switch -- "coming in the fourth quarter of this year -- will allow" USAD to "cut costs and benefit from being in the same city as the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee." However, the NGB is not leaving Indianapolis for good, as the '20 diving Olympic Trials will be at the Natatorium at Indiana Univ.-Purdue Univ. Indianapolis for a seventh time. Vaughn said that he was "disappointed USA Diving is leaving but that the Sports Corp. is excited about hosting the sport's premier events" (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 9/13).
