Kansas State's $105M Investment In Facilities To Start In May

Kansas State athletics will begin a $105M capital improvement project in May, marking the "largest" investment in the athletic department's history, according to Hayden Barber of the WICHITA EAGLE. The project will start with Bill Snyder Family Stadium's south end zone. The renovation will "feature two new video boards; upgraded club, suite and other premium seating; and new bathrooms and concession stands." The first phase of the project is estimated at $50M. The upgrades will also "add about 4,500 square feet to the concourse inside Bramlage Coliseum." Construction "will not conflict with football and basketball season," while completion is scheduled for the '21 football season. KSU has already raised more than $69M of the $105M (WICHITA EAGLE, 9/8).

DAWG & PONY SHOW: In Athens, Lee Shearer noted the Georgia endorsed an $80M "renovation and expansion of its Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall for UGA football," one of the "single largest construction projects in the university's history." Construction will begin in January. Butts-Mehre has housed UGA athletic administrators and football operations since '87, with "some renovations and smaller additions in the more than 30 years since it opened." One room will be "built with 180 seats, enough to seat the entire football team." The project "will not add to the athletic association's long-term debt" of around $100M (ATHENS BANNER-HERALD, 9/7).

THE GOOD LIFE: SB NATION's Ryan Kelapire noted Arizona's renovated SkyClub Box on the west side of Arizona Stadium "offers an open-air environment with enhanced food and beverage options, a buffet, and scenic views of both the field and the areas surrounding campus." The club, renovated this summer, will also be "lined with TVs." Entry is $3,000 per person per season. AD Dave Heeke said that the university's "next big project is to completely dismantle and rebuild the longstanding grandstands on the west side," which he estimates will cost $120-$150M (SBNATION.com, 9/6).
